Usage and Dosage:
Dosages should always be determined by a veterinarian based on the species, age, and condition of the animal. Below is a general guideline:
Piglets:
Common practice is 100–200 mg elemental iron per piglet, usually administered intramuscularly within the first few days of life.
Calves, Lambs, Goat Kids:
Dose according to veterinary advice; typically 100–200 mg elemental iron per animal.
Other Species (Cattle, Horses, etc.):
Dose should be adjusted according to body weight and iron deficiency status.
Repeat administration may be necessary if anemia persists. Always follow professional veterinary guidance.
Indications and Symptoms:
Prevention and treatment of iron deficiency anemia, particularly in young or rapidly growing animals.
Typical symptoms include pallor of mucous membranes, lethargy, rapid heartbeat, poor growth, and increased susceptibility to disease.
Precautions:
Avoid overdose; excessive iron can be toxic.
Do not administer intravenously.
