Name: Oxytetracycline Injection

Common Concentrations: 5%, 10%, 20%, 30%

Common Volumes: 50ml, 100ml per bottle

Applicable Animals: Cattle (dairy/beef), Swine, Poultry (chickens/turkeys), Sheep, Goats, Fish (aquaculture), Horses (non-racing use). (Global suitability: USA, EU, Brazil, Australia, China, India, etc.)

Dosage & Administration:

  • Cattle/Swine: 5-10 mg/kg body weight, IM/SQ, once daily for 3-5 days
    • Calves/Piglets: 5-7.5 mg/kg
    • Adults: 7.5-10 mg/kg
  • Poultry: 15-25 mg/kg via drinking water for 5 days
  • Fish: 50-75 mg/kg feed for 10 days (aquaculture)

Indications & Symptoms:

  • Bacterial pneumonia (Pasteurella spp.)
  • Mastitis (Staphylococcus spp.)
  • Enteritis (E. coli, Salmonella)
  • Foot rot (Fusobacterium)
  • Secondary infections in viral diseases

Precautions:

  • Avoid IV administration (risk of collapse)
  • Withdrawal periods:
    • Milk: 72 hours
    • Meat: 28 days (cattle/swine), 5 days (poultry)
  • Do not mix with alkaline solutions

Contraindications:

  • Hypersensitivity to tetracyclines
  • Renal impairment animals
  • Pregnant/lactating animals (except under veterinary supervision)

Post-Treatment Care:

  • Provide probiotics to restore gut flora
  • Ensure hydration (increased water intake)
  • Monitor injection sites for swelling
