Applicable Animals:

Tylvalosin (Tivalisin tartrate / Yivalisin Yartrate) is a new macrolide antibiotic, a derivative of Tylosin. It exerts its antibacterial effect by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis and possesses potent antibacterial activity against various Gram-positive bacteria, Mycoplasma, and certain Gram-negative bacteria. Tylvalosin exhibits good bioavailability and tissue penetration in animals, especially reaching high concentrations and sustained action in respiratory tissues, making it an ideal choice for the treatment and prevention of respiratory diseases in pigs and poultry.

Applicable Animals in Global Animal Husbandry:

  • Pigs (Piglets, Growing-finishing pigs, Sows): Primarily used for the treatment and prevention of respiratory system diseases caused by Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae, Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, Pasteurella, etc., such as porcine mycoplasmal pneumonia, porcine pleuropneumonia, and porcine atrophic rhinitis. It also has some efficacy against intestinal infections caused by sensitive bacteria, such as spirochete-induced swine dysentery.
  • Poultry (Chickens, Turkeys, etc.): Primarily used for the treatment and prevention of chronic respiratory disease (CRD) and infectious coryza caused by Mycoplasma gallisepticum, Mycoplasma synoviae, etc.

Usage and Dosage:

The usage and dosage of Tivalisin tartrate vary depending on the dosage form, animal species, and treatment objective. Currently, the database only provides information for water soluble powder. Below is a general reference for the usage and dosage of water soluble powder (please refer to the product label for precise instructions).

Water Soluble Powder (Mixed with drinking water or feed):

  • Pigs (Water Soluble Powder):
    • For Treatment: Approximately 10-15 mg of active ingredient per kg body weight.
    • Drinking Water: Add 100-200 mg of active ingredient per liter of drinking water, for 5-7 consecutive days.
    • Mixed Feed: Add 200-400 grams of active ingredient per ton of feed, for 7-14 consecutive days.
    • Example for 5% Water Soluble Powder:
      • Drinking water: Add 2-4 grams of this product per liter of drinking water.
      • Mixed feed: Add 4-8 kg of this product per ton of feed.
  • Poultry (Water Soluble Powder):
    • For Treatment: Approximately 15-20 mg of active ingredient per kg body weight.
    • Drinking Water: Add 150-300 mg of active ingredient per liter of drinking water, for 3-5 consecutive days.
    • Example for 5% Water Soluble Powder: Add 3-6 grams of this product per liter of drinking water.

Dosage by Growth Stage:

  • Piglets/Nursery Pigs: Used for the prevention and treatment of respiratory diseases in weaned piglets, reducing early mortality and improving growth performance.
  • Growing-finishing Pigs: Used to control chronic respiratory diseases, improving feed conversion rate and daily weight gain.
  • Chicks/Broilers: Used for the prevention and treatment of Mycoplasma infections and respiratory diseases in young poultry.

Applicable Diseases and Symptoms:

Tivalisin tartrate is primarily used for the treatment of diseases caused by sensitive bacteria and Mycoplasma:

  • Pigs:
    • Respiratory System Diseases: Porcine Mycoplasmal Pneumonia (enzootic pneumonia), Porcine Pleuropneumonia, Porcine Atrophic Rhinitis.
    • Intestinal Diseases: Porcine Spirochetal Dysentery.
  • Poultry (Chickens, Turkeys):
    • Respiratory System Diseases: Chronic Respiratory Disease (CRD), Infectious Coryza.

Precautions:

  • Withdrawal Period:
    • Pigs: 7 days (for meat)
    • Chickens: 5 days (for meat)
    • Not for use in laying hens during egg production.
  • Incompatibilities:
    • Strictly prohibited from concurrent use with ionophore anticoccidials such as Monensin, Salinomycin, Methylsalinomycin, Maduramicin, as this may lead to animal poisoning and even death.
    • Possible antagonistic interactions with lincosamide antibiotics such as Lincomycin and Clindamycin.
  • Stability: Prepared medicated solutions should be used as soon as possible and not left standing for extended periods.
  • Storage: Store in a cool, dark, and tightly sealed place.

Contraindications:

  • Contraindicated in animals with a known hypersensitivity to Tivalisin tartrate or other macrolide antibiotics.
  • Strictly prohibited from concurrent use with ionophore anticoccidials.
  • Not for use in laying hens during egg production.
  • Use with caution or contraindication in animals with severe hepatic or renal dysfunction.

Post-Administration Care:

  • Observe Treatment Efficacy: Closely monitor the improvement of clinical symptoms in animals, such as respiration, feed intake, and mental state, to assess drug efficacy.
  • Environmental Management: Maintain a clean, dry, and well-ventilated rearing environment to reduce stress factors and aid in animal recovery.
  • Biosecurity: Strengthen biosecurity management on the farm, including regular disinfection and control of personnel and vehicle access, to reduce pathogen transmission.
  • Enforce Withdrawal Period: Strictly adhere to the specified withdrawal period to ensure animal products meet food safety standards.
